: This study used the human retinal pigment epithelial cell line ARPE-19 (ATCC CRL-2302). No human participants or live vertebrate animals were involved; therefore, institutional ethics approval and informed consent were not required. ARPE-19 cells were authenticated by the supplier and routinely tested to confirm absence of mycoplasma contamination. All procedures complied with institutional biosafety guidelines.
