: The grant covered all costs associated with study activities (including all aspects of patient visits, screening, and data collection). Owners were also offered a $100 gift card on study completion as a ‘thank you’ (study completion was defined as the end of participation in the study, whether the subject completed the full study or exited early due to the occurrence of an adverse event, medical or surgical necessity, or due to the owner's preference to exit early).

: The animal studies were approved by North Carolina State University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC # 23–193). The studies were conducted in accordance with the local legislation and institutional requirements. Written informed consent was obtained from the owners for the participation of their animals in this study.
