: The present study did not involve the collection of plant material from natural populations. All Syzygium cumini genotypes analyzed were sourced from the field genebank maintained at the ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, India. The accessions are conserved and curated under institutional and national guidelines. Taxonomic identification was performed by qualified fruit crop scientists at ICAR–IIHR. As the study utilized established genebank accessions, deposition of voucher specimens was not applicable.
