Declarations
:
: At the time of the work, GP was employed at Nanologica AB (Södertälje), a biotech company that manufactures porous silica particles. TY, JECP, GS, ES, AA, GP, AG, SV declare potential conflict of interest.
: Patient consent was waived, as the leukocyte concentrates were acquired from the local blood donation bank (Skånes universitetssjukus, SUS, Lund, Sweden), which is sourced from anonymous donors with no means of identifying individual contributors. The material originated from voluntary blood donors who had provided informed consent for the use of donated blood for research purposes through the blood bank. The samples were fully anonymized before acquisition, and no identifiable donor information was available to the investigators. Therefore, no ethical approval was required according to Swedish regulations.
