: This study adhered to the Declaration of Helsinki, and to this effect, formal clearance and approval to conduct the study was obtained from Gulu University Research Ethics Committee (GUREC), with registration number GUREC − 2022 − 364. Administrative permission was sought from Apac district health office that forwarded to facilities that the study was going to be conducted. At facility level permission was obtained from the facility in charge who introduced the research assistants to EID care clinic in charge where data was collected from HIV positive breastfeeding mothers. Informed voluntary consent was sought from the participants. The participants were as well assured of privacy and confidentiality of the information collected.
