Ethics approval: The University of Texas at Arlington animal facility was approved by the Public Health Service (PHS) Animal Welfare Assurance and the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC). All protocols for our animal studies were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations.
