Ethics approval and consent to participate: This study used the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV version 3.1 (MIMIC-IV v3.1), a publicly available, de-identified critical care database. The establishment and release of MIMIC-IV were approved by the relevant institutional review boards of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. All patient-identifying information had been removed before database release. The investigators completed the required PhysioNet credentialing process and data use agreement before obtaining access to the database. Because this study was a secondary analysis of anonymized retrospective data and involved no direct patient contact or intervention, additional institutional ethical approval was not required. The requirement for written informed consent was waived in accordance with applicable regulations and institutional policies.
