: The experiments were performed in the maximum (biosafety level 4 [BSL-4]) containment laboratory at the Integrated Research Facility at Fort Detrick (IRF-Frederick). The facility is accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC). The IRF-Frederick is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and the Division of Clinical Research (DCR). Experimental procedures were approved by the NIAID DCR Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC) and conducted in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act regulations, Public Health Service policy, and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (Eighth Edition).
