Competing interests
: All authors have completed the ICMJE uniform disclosure form (ExternalRef removed; available on request from the corresponding author). PC, DR and PS were employees of MEND Central during the project, and PC and PS were also shareholders in MEND Central, PC and PS were two of the developers of the MEND 7–13 intervention. Given that results from the project might support, threaten or have no effect on MEND Central’s success, our grant application to NIHR and subsequent protocol (ExternalRef removed) set out governance measures to ensure that competing interests, and the interests of project stakeholders, were managed appropriately. As part of these measures, PC, PS and DR had no access to data and no role in analyses.
