: We purchased female BALB/c mice aged 6-8 weeks from Beijing Vital River Laboratory Animal Technology Co., Ltd. Female golden Syrian hamsters aged 4-6 weeks old were obtained from Wuhan Institute of Biological Products Co. Ltd. All the mice and hamsters were cared following the recommendations of National Institutes of Health Guidelines for the Care and Use of Experimental Animals. Studies related to virus infection were performed in biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) facility at Wuhan Institute of Virology under a protocol approved by the Laboratory Animal Ethics Committee of Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Permit number: WIVA26202108).
