Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Primary tumour samples were collected from patients according to a standard protocol approved by the University Clinic Münster (Germany) ethics committee and upon signing an informed consent. Blood samples were collected from patients according to a standard protocol approved by the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Hamburg, Germany) ethics committee and upon signing an informed consent. Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer samples were collected from patients according to a standard protocol approved by the University of Washington ethics committee and upon signing an informed consent. This study was performed in accordance with the tenets of the Declaration of Helsinki. The cell line employed was purchased from ATCC, Rockville, MD, USA.
