: All animal procedures were approved by the ethical committee of the University of Bordeaux according to the French government regulations. To minimize animal use, we retrospectively analyze samples from a previous study [CitationRef removed]. Human samples were acquired from resected livers of patients with HCC treated in Bordeaux from 1992 to 2005. Written informed consent was obtained from all patients according to French legislation.
