Signed consent was obtained from participants for research sequencing, clinical data analysis, and human cell lines studies in accordance with University of Calgary Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board and the Health Research Ethics Board at the University of Alberta. Informed consent for WGS as part of the 100KGP was obtained in accordance with approval from the HRA Committee East of England—Cambridge South (REC Ref 14/EE/1112) and was approved by the Institutional Review Board and ethics committee of Moorfields Eye Hospital (MEH). Consent to publish clinical information potentially identifying individuals was obtained from all participants. This study abides by criteria set out by World Medical Association principles as set out in the Declaration of Helsinki and adopted by its IRBs. Zebrafish lines were kept in accordance with the University of Alberta’s Animal Care and Use Committee guidelines. Animal care protocols were approved by the University Biosciences Animal Care Committee—protocol # AUP00000077. The invertebrate experiments (<i>C. elegans</i>) require no protocol approval.
