: Some financial support for the study was provided by Stratpharma who manufacture the topical silicone product used in the trial. Stratpharma had no part in the final study design, data collection, or analysis of results. Publication of the results was a condition of the Stratpharma funding. Government agencies who provided funding did not have input into the study design or study processes. No funding bodies had access to the results prior to them being presented publicly at the Australian New Zealand Burn Association and the International Society for Burn Injuries conferences. The investigators are the only people with access to the final trial data set. This manuscript was prepared by the investigators alone who have no financial interest linked to the Strataderm product, the Stratpharma Company, or other government funding bodies. JW collected the data as a PhD student of The University of Queensland. SMM, JW, MS, RK and ZT declare no other competing interests.
