: The University of the Witwatersrand’s regulation exempted the present study from full ethics review because it did not require formal approval by its ethics committee. The performance in this study, the questions posed to the performer and participants, and the associated copyright issues align with the principles of the College Art Association’s (CAA) Code of Best Practices for Fair Use in the Visual Arts.

: The performer participated in the installation at her request and with the author’s approval. The University of Witwatersrand’s regulations deemed written consent unnecessary, as the performer received officially all necessary information about her participation and relevant publication. Similarly, the installation visitors were informed that their feedback could be used in research without involving any personal information.
