Ethical approval
: For the study conducted, ethical approval was not sought due to the nature of the data used. The research exclusively involved the analysis of publicly available secondary data, such as academic publications from CNKI, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and official websites of intangible cultural heritage crafts across the main provinces in the seven geographic regions of China. Additionally, publicly available interviews from news organizations featuring non-heritage crafts masters were also analyzed. Given that all data sources are secondary and publicly available, and the research did not involve any direct interaction with human participants or the collection of primary data, an ethical approval was deemed not applicable. This aligns with the institutional guidelines for ethical research, where studies utilizing exclusively secondary, publicly available data do not require IRB review.
: Due to the nature of the research, informed consent was not applicable. The study did not involve primary data collection from human participants. All data analyzed were derived from secondary sources that are publicly accessible and are already in the public domain. These sources include academic articles, official digital archives, and media publications which report on intangible cultural heritage crafts, where the information is used within the context of public knowledge without any private or sensitive data concerning individuals. The usage of this type of data ensures compliance with ethical research standards that exempt requirements for informed consent when the study is purely observational in nature and utilizes information that has been previously published or archived in a manner that is accessible to the public. This approach is in line with the ethical standards set forth in the Declaration of Helsinki for research involving human data only when personal data is used, which was not the case in this research.
