: This study is a secondary analysis of data from the CHARLS, a publicly available dataset. The original CHARLS survey was reviewed and approved by the Ethical Review Committee of Peking University (IRB00001052–11015), and conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. This study involved no direct interaction with human participants and no new data collection; therefore, no additional ethical approval was required by the authors’ institution.
: All participants in the CHARLS provided written informed consent prior to data collection. The dataset used in this study is anonymized and publicly available to registered researchers. No additional informed consent was required for this secondary analysis.
