ETHICS APPROVAL AND CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE
: Specimens for the study were collected from an scientific catch by the Baikal Branch of the All-Russian Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography in the case of the Baikal seal, dead individuals stranded ashore in the case of the Caspian seal, and aboriginal hunts in the case of the ringed seal. Additional intravital samples were collected from Baikal and Caspian seals during expeditions of the Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, Russian Academy of Sciences (as approved by the Ethics Committee of Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, Russian Academy of Sciences, protocol no. 92 dated April 23, 2024).
