ETHICS APPROVAL AND CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE
: Animal-related experiments were conducted in accordance with the NIH Guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals (http://oacu.od.nih.gov/regs/index.htm). All applicable international, national, and/or institutional guidelines for the care and use of animals were followed. Angular rough sharks examined in the present study were consisted of bycatch sharks captured in commercial fisheries. Live sharks were never euthanized and their wellfare were never violated. Samples were examined within the scope of the ongoing Stock Identification of Demersal Fishes in the Eastern Marmara Sea project, and ethics committee approval granted by the Local Ethics Committee of Istanbul University Animal Experiments also covers the present study (Project ID: 2714; Approval granted 17.04.2015).
