: (1) The regularities have been experimentally studied for the temporal mechanical treatment of binary mixed micropowders of some metals and nonmetals belonging to the third, fourth, and eighth groups of the periodic table in a planetary-type ball mill.(2) It has been shown that the mechanical treatment of the aforementioned mixed micropowders does not change the general mathematical structure of corresponding statistical microparticle size distribution functions. The aforementioned functions have been found to belong to the group of lognormal distributions.(3) For the aforementioned mixed micropowders, there have been calculated the main parametric characteristics, as well as the most informative initial and central moments for both composite bimodal microparticle size distribution functions and the partial unimodal distribution functions determined by their deconvolution.(4) A kinetic model has been proposed and experimentally verified for the mechanical treatment of two-component mixed micropowders in planetary-type ball mills. This model makes it possible to analyze or predict the temporal behavior of scale-independent statistical characteristics of the components of these mixtures under different initial process conditions.(5) It has been shown that the analysis of the behavior of such characteristics within the framework of the proposed kinetic model makes it possible to reveal the main mechanisms that govern variations in the granulometric parameters and physicomechanical properties of microparticles subjected to mechanical treatment in planetary-type ball mills.
