ETHICS APPROVAL AND CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE
: No ethical issues were involved in this study. The collection of the eelpout Lycodes tanakae was legal and reasonable. The species is not included in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species; it is not listed as endangered, vulnerable, rare, or protected in the Russian Federation either. The sampling locality is beyond any protected areas. The site of the field study is not privately-owned or protected. Information about the voucher specimen and the person who identified it is provided in the manuscript.
