ETHICS APPROVAL AND CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE
: The care and use of laboratory animals were done according to the guidelines of the Council Directive CPCSEA, India (no. 659/02/a) about Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) on animal experimentation. All animal experiments were performed in the laboratory according to the ethical guidelines suggested by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC).
: Pure and healthy male Wistar albino rats, weighing 150– 200 g, procured from the Small Animal Breeding Centre, Agricultural University, Mannuthy, Kerala were used. Animals were acclimatized under standard laboratory conditions at 25 ± 2°C and normal photoperiod (12 h light: dark cycle). The animals were fed with standard rat chow and water ad libitum. The food was withdrawn 18–24 h before the experiment. No conflicts of interest was declared by the authors.
