: No permits or authorizations were required to collect specimens of <i>Sabellaria alveolata</i> used in the study. The material of <i>Idanthyrsus australiensis</i> were collected from Long Reef, a marine reserve with a permit issued to the Australian Museum by NSW DPI (F86/2163–72 & OUT 13/2588).
