: All specimens used in this study were collected from wild populations. Field work was conducted in accordance with local regulations. Antarctic nematodes and the kinorhynch were collected during R/V <i>Polarstern</i> cruise PS96 with permission from the Alfred Wegener Institute, Germany. No permits were required to collect any of the other taxa sequenced in this study.
