: Ethical Commission for Research Projects of Ilia State University reviewed methodology, study protocols and approved this research. Permit #1018. No anesthesia, euthanasia or any kind of animal sacrifices have been carried out during the study. Field Research: tissue samples (tail tips) were obtained with negligible harm to live animals. Fieldwork and collection of samples in Turkey was done under the permits no. E.1284045 from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey and no. 91330202 from the Animal Research Ethics Committee of Bülent Ecevit University. No permits are required for field study of the <i>Darevskia</i> species in Georgia.
