[CitationRef removed] were collected worldwide, whereas the samples from Casali et al. [CitationRef removed] and Zhang et al. [CitationRef removed] were collected from Russia and China respectively. As a validation data set, another WGS dataset of 3494 clinical MTB strains from the United Kingdom, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Germany, and Uzbekistan was also obtained [CitationRef removed]. The participant consent had been obtained by previous studies and therefore ethics approval from an ethics board was not required in this study.
