: The use of excess surgical pathology materials and anonymous cadaveric organ donor tissue are considered to be exempt from IRB review. The collection of primary human bronchial epithelial cells and the available information is recorded in such a manner that subjects cannot be identified, directly or through identifiers linked to the subjects. Therefore, these studies are under the HHS regulations at 45 CFR part 46 considered not human subject samples.
