: We claimed that the following statement was accurate. <i>Chilo suppressalis</i> is a common agricultural pest, which is not included in the “List of Endangered and Protected Animals in China”. The original collecting site is not private and the field collection of <i>Chilo suppressalis</i> was permitted. All animal procedure in this study was performed according to guidelines developed by the ethics committee of the State Key Laboratory for Biology of Plant Diseases and Insect Pests, Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Experimental Animal Welfare Ethics Committee of Nanjing Agricultural University. In order to make all efforts to minimize suffering, all animal procedure was performed under anesthesia, and wounds were cleaned that before they got infected.
