: Animals were owned by the Dairy Producers and a confidentiality agreement has been signed with all Dairy Producers. They were treated according to local management practices and, if required, they were culled following the veterinary practices. They were not euthanized as part of this study. All animal procedures were carried out according to the Canadian Council on Animal Care guidelines for institutional animal use. The ethical approval protocols 424 and 431 were approved by the Comité Institutionnel de Protection des Animaux from the Sherbrooke Research and Development Centre of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. The dairy cows selected for the study were from the herds from companion studies (AAFC-J000075 and AAFC-J000079). Enrollment of JD-positive herds was authorized by the owners.
