: The study did not involve new treatment of animals as only published data was used. DNA samples for all already published raw data were taken from a database established during the project AVIANDIV (EC Contract No. BIO4-CT98_0342; 1998 – 2000; ExternalRef removed) and later extended by samples of the project SYNBREED (FKZ 0315528E; 2009 – 2014; ExternalRef removed). Blood sampling was done in strict accordance to the German animal welfare regulations, with written consent of the animal owners and was approved by the at the according times ethics responsible persons of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut. According to German animal welfare regulations, notice was given to the responsible institution, the Lower Saxony State Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (33.9–42502-05-10A064).
