: Arctic charr included in the present study originated from the selectively bred broodstock at the Aquaculture Centre North (Kälarne, Sweden). The facility operates selective breeding and farming of fish according to the regulations and guidelines of the national authorities. This study was performed in accordance with the Swedish legislation described in the Animal Welfare Act 2018:1192 (ethics permit: 5.2.18–09859/2019). In addition, all research was carried out in compliance with the ARRIVE guidelines 2.0 (ExternalRef removed). According to Swedish legislation SJVFS 2015:24 Sect. 15, the study was exempted from additional ethics approval.
