The skin tissues used to obtain the mast cells for this study were purchased from the Cooperative Human Tissue Network of the National Cancer Institute, and informed consent was obtained from all participants. This study was reviewed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the University of South Carolina. The IRB of the University of South Carolina has determined that the referenced study (protocol number Pro00020620) meets the Not Human Subject criteria set forth as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations (45 CFR 46) as the specimens and/or private information/data were not collected specifically for the current research project through an interaction/intervention with living individuals and the investigators including collaborators on the proposed research cannot readily ascertain the identity of the individuals to whom the coded private information or specimens pertain.
