The sampling of plant material was performed in compliance with institutional, national, and international guidelines. We conducted the experimental research on cultivated alfalfa in accordance with the IUCN Policy Statement on Research Involving Species at Risk of Extinction and the Convention on the Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Alfalfa seeds of ‘Zhongmu No. 1’ were provided by the Institute of Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China. The tobacco and <i>Arabidopsis thaliana</i> Columbia-0 planting materials were obtained from our laboratory (Laboratory of Forage Molecular Breeding, Ningxia University, China).
