: Experimental research and studies on plants in this study, including the collection of plant material, are complied with the institutional, national, and international guidelines and legislation. We conducted the experimental research on cultivated alfalfa in accordance with the IUCN Policy Statement on Research Involving Species at Risk of Extinction and the Convention on the Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Alfalfa seeds of "Zhongmu No.1" were gifted by the National Livestock Husbandry Station, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Afairs of The People’s Republic of China. We have permission to use plant material. "Zhongmu No.1" alfalfa was approved by Beijing Institute of Animal Sciences of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in November 1997 by the National Grass Variety Approval Committee, registered as a bred variety by Huazhu Geng, Qingchuan Yang, Wenhua Shu, Cong Li and Jiguo Hao. The variety registration number is 177, national approval number is 2003006.
