: All experimental protocols were approved by the Resort Professional Commission of the CAS for Approval of Projects of Experiments on Animals. Prior to the collection of S. molnari blood stages, the fish specimens were subjected to euthanasia utilizing clove oil. The manipulation and sampling protocols were executed with a consistent approach and in strict adherence to the provisions of the Czech legislation governing the welfare of animals, as set forth in the Protection of Animals Against Cruelty Act No. 246/1992. All procedures were authorized by the Czech Ministry of Agriculture. The study is reported in accordance with ARRIVE guidelines ().
