The DNA analyzed furnished to this study by five commercial halibut producers that all have approval from their respective national food safety authorities to produce and slaughter fish for human consumption; this approval also permits taking fish fin samples from brood stock individuals for genetic analyses necessary for sustainable production of healthy fish.
