: This study was conducted in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. All ethical guidelines for research involving human participants were followed, and appropriate ethical approvals were obtained. The Scientific and Ethical Committee of the FCT Health Research Ethics Committee granted approval for the study (Approval Number: FHREC/2020/01/40/04–05-20). Permission was obtained from the management of each abattoir. Prior to administering the questionnaire, each eligible abattoir worker provided written informed consent. We ensured confidentiality of all information gathered from the abattoir workers. We performed all the procedures in accordance with the ethics committee's norms and regulations. The animal study was reviewed and approved by the Scientific and Ethical Committee of the Ahmadu Bello University Committee on Animal Use and Care (Approval Number: ABUCAUC/2020/35).
