: All vertebrate animal use at Colorado State University is conducted under Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) approval and has an Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) number of A3572-01 provided by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Animals are housed in a state-of-the-art ABL-3 facility that full-time staff veterinarians and support staff supervise. The CSU animal assurance welfare number is A3572-01 and is on file with the NIH. Veterinary care follows the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Guidelines. Animals were euthanized using CO2 asphyxiation with cervical dislocation for confirmation. This work was done using CSU Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocol 5172.
