: The bacterial isolates belong to the medical microbiology laboratories participating in the Dutch national CPE surveillance program and were obtained as part of routine clinical care. No additional samples were taken or epidemiological data was collected beyond clinical care. According to the Dutch Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act (WMO), ethical approval and patient consent were not needed for the study, since it is based on surveillance data only. Research has been performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki.
