: The study was granted ethical clearance by the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Quds University under the IRB reference number (Re4-25-24). The ethical clearance was based on the adherence to the declaration of Helsinki Committee. The use of patient samples was approved by the IRB at Al-Quds University. Since the study was a part of routine diagnosis of suspected cutaneous leishmaniasis and the diagnostic samples were referred from several distant health departments, only verbal informed consent was obtained from individuals or guardians by nurses.
