Ethical approval and consent to participate: Ethical approval was obtained from University of Gondar Institutional Review Board (IRB) (Ref. No. CMHSSH-UoG IRERC /657/12/2023) and permission was obtained from the respective authorities in the hospitals. Written and informed consent was obtained from all adult participants or from parents/guardians for minors after explaining the purpose and procedures of the study. Assent was also secured from each pediatric participant prior to data collection. Specimens were collected and processed in accordance with standard operating procedures by trained nurses and medical microbiologists, respectively. Patients received appropriate clinical care irrespective of participation in the study, following the hospital’s clinical guidelines. Confidentiality was ensured through coded identifiers, and all collected data were used solely for research purposes.
