Ethics approval and consent to participate: This study falls within the microbiological surveillance mandate of the Pasteur Institute of Côte d’Ivoire through the National Reference Center (NRC) for Influenza and Respiratory Viruses, as established by Interministerial Order No. 393 of 21 June 2006. It was also approved by the National Ethics Committee for Life Sciences and Health (registration No. 23/MSLS/CNER-dkn). After approval by the national ethics committee, no further authorization was required for field specimen collection.
