: The use of adult animals and procedures described in this study were approved by the regional ethical committee for animal experimentation (Uppsala Djurförsöksetiska Nämnd, permission number Dnr.5.8.18-008/2017). Zebrafish embryos at developmental stages earlier than free-feeding are not considered research animals according to Swedish research animal regulations (SJVFS 2019:9) [] why no ethical permit is needed for embryo studies. At sampling, adult fish were euthanized by decapitation after immersion in sodium bicarbonate buffered tricaine methanesulfonate solution (MS222: 500 mg/L).
