: The study follows the BMC ‘Ethics approval, consent to participate, and consent to publish’. The study is not a clinical trial. The sampling took place in accordance with the rules of Natura 2000 Site of Community Importance “Colli Berici” and the Habitat Directive (European Union,1992. Council Directive 92/43/EEC of 21 May 1992 on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora. Official Journal of the European Communities, L 206, 7–50). Photosynthetic performance was measured in situ using portable instruments without transplantation of individuals to laboratory; pigment and morphological analyses required harvesting only 5–6 leaves per individual; no entire plants were harvested; seed collection followed the ENSCONET protocol, limiting collection to < 20% of viable seeds to preserve full reproductive capacity. One herbarium voucher has been deposited to the Herbarium Patavinum (PAD) in order to ensure the correct identification of the species (MC). Voucher number: H0064005.
