: This prospective randomized controlled clinical study was carried out on elderly patients scheduled for unilateral video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery at Zagazig University hospitals. Ethical approval from the institutional review board (the research ethical committee of the Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University) was obtained with reference number IRB #10060/30-10-2022. This study has a clinicaltrials.gov registration number (NCT05661253). All the participants provided written informed consent once they had a clear understanding of the research's purpose. Following the rules and criteria of the Declaration of Helsinki, the study was conducted.
