: The data access responsible Vice President on behalf of the Institutional Review Board at North Zealand Hospital deemed the need for patients’ consent to participate in the current study unnecessary, because the crowding data are based upon anonymous patient data to assess departmental health care quality. Data collection by the Department of Digitalization and Analysis was therefore authorized to aid the everyday planning of hospital operations. The aggregated quality data may subsequently be freely used for further research. This is in accord with the Danish Health Care Act (<i>dk</i>: Sundhedsloven) []<i>.</i>
