Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was approved by the South West – Frenchay NHS Research Ethics committee (Reference number: 17/SW/0098) including a protocol to obtain written and verbal consent from study participants.Participants were sent a copy of the participant information sheet and consent form in advance, had the opportunity to discuss the study and answer questions prior to consenting to participate, and gave informed written or audio-recorded verbal consent to participate in the interview study. After discussion with EW, Faculty of Social Science and Law Research Ethics Officer, University of Bristol, it was agreed that audio-recorded informed verbal consent, based on participants having read the written consent form, was sufficient for telephone interviews.
: Written or verbal consent for publication of anonymised excerpts of transcripts was gained from all participants.
