: The quantitative component of this study was approved by the NPS MedicineWise Data Governance Committee (2019–029). The Human Research Ethics Committee of the University of Adelaide exempted it of a full review as it used only secondary and de-identifed data, with no possibility of re-identifcation. NPS MedicineWise, the data custodian of the program MedicineInsight when this study was performed, received approval by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) National Research and Evaluation Ethics Committee (NREEC 17–017) for the standard operation and use of the MedicineInsight programme. General practices included in the MedicineInsight program consented to provide data on an ongoing basis. Data are encrypted during transit, following government and industry best practice standards, and are collected, used and stored strictly in accordance with Australian privacy laws (including mandatory data breach notification laws). The qualitative component was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee at the University of Adelaide (approval number H-2019-256), and an invitation for GPs to answer the online survey was posted in two social media professionally based groups. Informed consent was implied through the completion of the survey questionnaire. The preamble to the survey covered participant information, including consent and anonymity.
