Ethical approval for the study was obtained from Makerere University School of Public Health Higher Degrees Research and Ethics Committee (SPH-2021-173). Administrative clearance was sought from the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA), which presides over the study area. Information sheets and consent forms were available in the local language (Luganda) or English with details on the purpose of the project, procedures to be followed and the risks and benefits of participation.
