: In Switzerland, ethical approval is mandatory for clinical trials as well as for research involving the collection of health-related data or the extraction and use of biological material, in accordance with the Federal Act on Research involving Human Beings (Humanforschungsgesetz, HFG). In the present study, only interviews with primary care physicians were conducted, and no personal health-related data of patients were collected. Therefore, an ethical approval or formal clarification with the competent ethics committee was not required. Before starting the interviews, participants received information about the purpose of the study and the data collection and gave their verbal informed consent. The study adhered to the WMA Declaration of Helsinki – Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Participants.
